A ritual about delicacy. An offer of care. An island for what is often forgotten.
Simple materials to remind us of the bond we have with the landscape we are immersed in and everything that lives in it. A twig, a handful of sand, a stick can be a vital elements for other beings to dwell in the space we share with them, they can become a nest, a little den, or a vernacular dome. Gathered in small ceramic bowls that draws inspiration from Ursula Le Guin's “The carrier bag theory of fiction,” these elements invite to a subtle feeling and attention for what is silent but exists and coexists in our everyday life. Guests are invited to pick the bag in the bowl and give it to someone or somewhere that makes them feel at home. An offer to what gives us the chance to root and spread and a possibility for someone/something else to grow. An invite to life in all its forms and an excuse for making and reinforcing connections in the community.
On the 29th, 30th and 31st of August, the artist will be sitting at the centre of the ritual tray, assembling the elements in each bowl and asking the audience to pick the tiny bags contained to bring them home. She will be filling up with new elements the bowls every time they get empty.
